History
“I have always been motivated with the human figure, especially women. I love drawing
with charcoal and rubbing out, using the line as a way to express my inner. The color
is always coming out illuminating my image”
Ximena Lecaros was born in Santiago, Chile in1964 where she lives with her husband.
She has 4 children: Ximena (27), Felipe (25), Paula (23) and Matías (19).
She attended Elementary School in Madrid at Licée Alliance Francaise and when she
returned to Chile, after 6 years, completed her education in the same French School in
Santiago.
Her interest in Art begins, in 1982, when she was a student at Escuela de Arquitectura
of Universidad Católica de Chile. After 3 years she decided to change career moving to
Mathematics getting a Bachelor Degree as a Math teacher.
During all this years she took painting and drawing lessons with Luz María Villarroel.
Ximena lived through 1998 to 2005 in San Salvador, El Salvador and Guayaquil,
Ecuador, where she keeps developing her artwork and studying printmaking in CENAR,
(Centro Nacional de Artes de El Salvador) and in Walter Paez’ s professional atelier.
In 2005, back in Chile, she begins to work at Taller 99 (xylography and lithography)
and human figure drawing with model at Jaime León ́s workshop.
She has had several solo shows and many group exhibitions in Chile and abroad.
She has taught several xylography and monotype workshops to children and adults.
Since 2014 she has been part of Taller 99 Directive, working in all the activities related
with the organisation of Taller 99.
